Incident ends on Beall Lane in Central Point

A Grants Pass woman was lodged in the Jackson County Jail Monday morning after she led police on a chase from Grants Pass to Medford.

Jennifer Leigh Ming, 36, was arrested on charges of felony attempt to elude police in a vehicle and reckless driving. She was being held late Monday in lieu of $8,000 bail.

A news release from Oregon State Police said Ming did not pull over during a traffic stop by Grants Pass police and instead headed south on Interstate 5. OSP took over the lead on the chase near milepost 45.

The release described the chase as low-speed because of ice and snow on the roads.

OSP, Josephine County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Sheriff's Department and Grants Pass police trailed the 1995 Suzuki Sidekick sport utility vehicle. Several attempts to stop the vehicle with spike strips were made during the chase without success, officials said.

Ming exited I-5 and continued on to Highway 99, where spike strips deployed by Central Point police deflated all four tires. Ming kept driving until she reached Beall Lane, where Jackson County sheriff's deputies were able to force the vehicle to a stop with a tactical bumping maneuver.

Ming was taken into custody without incident. OSP took her to Rogue Valley Medical Center for a medical evaluation, then took her to jail.
